The report will focus on the principle, model and theory of management, which would be required to plan, organize, lead and control the organizational structure of the salon. The report will also discuss the external environmental factors in the context of Australia and contemporary management challenges that the salon is going through. Then, the report will search recommendations that a management consultant can provide. Principles of Management Henri Fayol has described the fourteen important essential management principles in his book General and Industrial Management. These principles are the key to the successful management and many organizations across the globe follow it (Morden, 2017). The hairdressing salon Rock Paper and Scissors should follow the necessary management principles and the management consultant should analyze the values this principles and apply it accordingly in the organizational structure. The salon should follow the division of work or labor principle of management. There should be small distribution of the whole workforce of the salon Rock Paper and Scissors into subdivision of the tasks, which should be based on the expertise and specialization (Morden, 2017). The small division of the whole work would help the organization to handle the work. This type of work division will lead the organization into individual development too. The salon should maintain the principle of one boss. There should be the one highest authority who will take all the important decisions in the organization. Thus, this will help the organization to maintain an overall unity as if the employees are receiving information from only one person and it will help them to avoid conflicts and confusions. The salon management should pay fairly and reasonably to all its employees, as this is the primary motivation for the employees to stick to the work. There should be reward-giving opportunity for its employees as this influences the productivity (Rudani, 2013). The managers should treat kindly to all the employees and develop morale in the workforce of the organization. The management of the organization should organize first the above-mentioned ideas and execute a proper planning of those ideas. The leader or manager should command over the ideas to all level of employees and co-ordinate it accordingly in the organizational structure. Model and Theory of Management The management model in this case could be Competing Values Framework. This model is applicable in the salon Rock Paper Scissors to achieve more flexibility and adaptability, however, to maintain the stability and control over its organizational structure. The Quinn and Rohrbaugh propose this management model in 1983. This model is based on the work effectiveness in an organization. There are two dimension of this organizational effectiveness. The first dimension focuses on the organization, the focus centers around its people, which is an internal emphasis. The external focus is on the organization itself (Cameron et al., 2014). This model could be used as a teaching tool for the managers to analyze and understand the organizational process and functions (Quinn et al., 2014). The salon could follow the management theory like Goal-setting Theory. The management consultant of the salon proposes the theory and its application. This theory works on the setting goal and its effect on the workforce. Edwin Locke who has proposed this theory found that individual with difficult goal performs better than those with easy or general goal (Locke Latham, 2013). However, the managing consultant should give responsibility for difficult task on an individual worker in the salon. The goal should be defined clearly and have specific timeline to complete. The organization and its employees should put effective commitment about the goal. The management of the organization, in this case, the salon Rock Paper Scissors should set up a feedback method to receive information about the progress of the goal. The goal-setting theory helps the workers and management to work together effectively and produce best efforts towards a work (Locke Latham, 2013). However, the management shou ld apply this theory to motivate its people. The organization, Rock Paper Scissors needs an effective strategic planning to execute its strategies about the workforce. The strategic management should incorporate defining the organizations goal and its direction, decision-making procedure and allocating the resources to achieve the goal (Cassidy, 2016). In the Australian context, the management should aware about the staffscontrol, as this is very important issue for the stakeholders. Stuff control is how effectively a manger managing its stuffs. The stakeholders are those people who are interested in business only. However, if the challenges are being removed, the company will flourish. The salon is facing challenges like demand for managing consultant. The managing consultant has identified that the company needs the strategies of division of the work into appropriate labors. The work distribution should be subdivided from an overall goal of the organization. The workers should get fair remuneration for their workload and in this way; the management could motivate its workers. The manager should a person who will provide instructions to all its employees. The managers instruction will help to build a unity in the organizational workforce. The manager should communicate effectively with all its employees and treat them with kindness. It is recommended to apply a motivational outlook on the organizational workforce. The managing consultant is giving suggesting in this report for the improvement of the workforce. The management is facing number of challenges in the organizational structure. The recommendations are based on the management principles, models and the theories. There is also environmental effect on the salon as this salon is situated in Australia. however, the salons manager should think about this factor as context affects largely on an institution.
